Deer Creek Meats

Deer Creek Meats was founded in Glendive, Montana in 2020 by owners Josh and Christina Kreilaus and our four growing boys.

We are a pastured meat producer focused on raising beef, pork and poultry in an ethical and regenerative manner. All our animals are raised on pasture where they are able to live as God intended without small pens or cages. We grind our own feed ration using locally raised grain and minerals, ensuring our animals only receive the highest quality inputs. We do not use chemicals or soy in any of our feed and are moving towards no corn as well. 

 

Our ranch is chemical free in every aspect. We do not use antibiotics or dewormers on our animals. Our cattle spend their lives moving from pasture to pasture in constant rotation. Our heritage breed pigs are raised in the same manner while being supplemented with our homemade feed, giving them a beautifully marbled red meat. 

 

 

Practices

Over the last few years we have worked diligently to perfect pasture raised poultry in a short growing season like we have in Montana. We raise 7-10 batches of 1250 birds starting in March and running until the beginning of October. The breed of chicken that we raise is a variation that gives great tasting meat while being healthy and active. We receive our meat birds from a small family-owned hatchery in North Dakota when they are one day old. The chicks go immediately into our large brooder where they are able to stay warm and safe until they get their adult feathers. Once they are mature enough to live outside, they “graduate” to the pasture. They spend their time living as chickens should, eating grass, worms, and loads of grasshoppers. The chickens are twice moved daily until they go to processing to ensure they have fresh forage.

 

The biggest part of our operation that sets us apart is that we are the only producer in Montana that has our chicken processed in a Certified Organic USDA facility. We work extremely hard to get our chicken processed in a manner that allows us to sell anywhere in the United States. This also gives us the ability to ensure our chickens are processed without any harsh chemicals that would get passed onto the customer. We strive to raise our animals in the best ways possible and truly believe you can tell the difference every time you take a bite.
